Co.Meath based Joanne O’Connor hails originally from Tuar-na-Fola in the Mullaghareirk Mountains in the West Limerick, Cork, Kerry border. Joanne was immersed in Traditional music all her life as both her parents were musicians and her Mum was a traditional Irish singer. Her Father, along with her Grandfather and Aunts and Uncle were part of the Abbey Dance band who toured Ireland during the 1960′s. Her Grandmother was a cousin of Denis Murphy and Julie Clifford, two very well known Sliabh Luachra musicians. Joanne is very proud of this and is very proud of and determined to keep her local style of playing.
Joanne started playing music at the age of 6 and chose the banjo and mandolin. Joanne is highly sought after tutor for workshops throughout Ireland and abroad each year.

She has travelled and recorded with groups such as Planxty O’Rourke ( Limerick/ Clare), The Gleann an Iolair Céilí Band ( Derry). Joanne would list her main influences as John Carty, Mick O’Connor and Kieran Hanrahan
