Born and raised in County Clare, Deirdre has been immersed in Irish Traditional music from a very young age. She started her musical journey, like most others, on the tin whistle in her local Comhaltas branch, soon graduating to the fiddle and piano accordion. Within a couple of years Deirdre chose the piano as her instrument. Under the tuition of  Pádraig O’ Reilly, she developed a great understanding of traditional piano playing and accompaniment. Concurrently she studied classical piano at the Limerick School of Music.
Deirdre graduated with a BA in Irish Music and Dance at The World Music Academy, University of Limerick. Under the guidance of masters, Professor Micheál Ó Súilleabháin, Caoimhin Vallely and Ryan Molloy, they helped to develop her technique and individual style as a pianist.
Deirdre is a well sought after tutor for traditional piano in her local Clare/Limerick area.
Deirdre is currently the resident pianist with the show ‘Turas’ in Siamsa Tíre, The National Folk Theatre of Ireland based in Tralee, Co. Kerry.
